Don’t compare yourself to others that aren’t where you are!
What a waste of energy… let’s get back on track!
So I decided to change the topic this week because I need to process some things first.
Before I even posted my last entry, I started to feel myself losing steam. I noticed I was comparing myself to other actors who are not in any way “new”. Whereas, I am. I’ve learned so much in my first month, and it’s been fun—until I let envy join the party. Envy’s familiar voice said “there’s no way you’re gonna get cast as Rogue. Here’s three actors that are already established that could play her better. They’ll probably go with them before you even know about the casting call”. Just a lot of self-deprecating stuff. I noticed I was sinking into myself because of some hypothetical scenario that I came up with!
It’s weeks like this that I just need to remind myself that “if it’s meant for me, it’ll happen”. I need to work hard to get it, but also be okay with letting it go if it doesn’t work out.
Usually, taking extra showers and going on walks helps me clear my head and reconnect. I just didn’t make time for myself this week. I lost track of my days, and my responsibilities— I had to call out of work and class on Tuesday because I got an ocular migraine followed by a normal migraine…
I have not been taking care of myself more than the bare minimum, and that’s not fair.
I deserve better care, and I know that. It’s hard to remember that when you’re so in your head. I’ve been purposefully distracting myself with video games and doom scrolling instead of healthy activities like walking my dog or stretching.
This week, I’ll have a little more time on my hands to reset my body and my brain. I think I just need to watch Superman (2025) for the 3rd time now that it’s on streaming services.
What I will say about comparing yourself to others: don’t. You can’t be anyone but yourself, and no one can be you. That’s on purpose. You’re meant to do things that only you can do!
There’s no use in wasting your energy looking at what other people have and beating yourself up because you don’t have it. GO GET IT! If you want something, figure out what you need to prepare, and take those first steps! I can’t be Rogue in the X-Men movies if I don’t know how to act. I can’t be healthy if I don’t eat well and don’t exercise. You should only be comparing yourself to the old you. Because the old you didn’t have what you have, which is hope and drive.
If you need a little bit of hope from the outside, take this page as a sign to TRY ANYWAYS! I’ll say it for the rest of my life. You will never know if you don’t try. Whatever it is you dream of doing, look at what’s in your way (usually yourself), and get mad enough to stand up and do something about it! Go watch the new Superman if you can. I promise you, you’ll have a new sense of hope, and you’ll have the energy to work on your dreams.
You can do anything you put your mind to, but you have to get out of your own way first.
I know you can do it, because I’m doing it.
I have some video ideas, I just need to script and record them. Make sure to subscribe to my YouTube so you don’t miss any!

See you next week!

My co-worker likes to use a quote a lot that's "do what you love, and the rest will come." You being so passionate and dedicated to this will make so much of a difference over time because regardless of the outcome, something will eventually come because you are truly putting YOU into this! So excited to see you keep rising!
